This second Bowie tribute concert to raise funds for refugees has been confirmed for Dec. 8 8.30pm.
On October 17 2015 the first "Bowie Tribute Concert" featuring music of David Bowie from 5 decades was held and raised funds to help refugees. The song "Loving the Alien" was the centre-piece. With an 11-piece band, the show kicked off with "Space Oddity" and closed with "Ashes to Ashes" and an encore of "Ziggy Stardust" to rapturous applause. The show included 19 of Bowie's hit songs, some covered just like the original recordings, others interpreted with a heavy rock influence. About 130 people attended the gig.
Free concerts at the Hall at St Michael's North Carlton over the past 8 years have covered themes like: "The 40th Anniversary of Sgt. Peppers", "The 40th Anniversary of The Blues Bros.", "Songs of Love and Loss", "Woodstock", "Protest Songs from the 60's to the Naughties", and "The 40th Anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon." These concerts are free, live, top quality musical entertainment for all ages in the local inner north of Melbourne. All people are welcome to the concerts.
We are playing a second concert at 303 High St Northcote on December 8 and it's open to the general public with a donation at the door. The gig celebrates the music of David Bowie, 50 years after his first recording. Coinciding with the "David Bowie is..." exhibition at ACMI (https://www.acmi.net.au/exhibitions/bowie/) this concert will cover music from 5 decades of Bowie's hugely influential discography. The band comprises a selection of fine rock musicians from inner city Melbourne to present the music.
